Black Day

BLACK DAY OBSERVED

BLACK DAY OBSERVED

(Report by Nisar Hussain)

Government Post Graduate Taleem Ul Islam College Chenab Nagar commemorated the Black Day by setting up a seminar and taking down the national flag to half mast to record protest.Professor Hafiz Ahsan Ullah did the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by consecutive speeches of teachers. Professor Syed Ali Imran Shah said that Narindar Modi has dug his own grave in Kashmir. Very soon, the sun will shine on the grateful land of Kashmir, and its people will celebrate the independence with the rest of the Pakistani nation. Professor Alamgir expressed his emotions and thoughts on the occasion by saying that "By the Will of God, the blood of innocent Kashmiris will not go vain. Their damnation is about to become their salvation. He futher added that the parties concerned in bringing peace to Kashmir should go for the United Nation Security Council and revoke the resolution 38, 39 and resolution 40 (1948) to call out for Public election (plebiscite) in Kashmir and assign a representator from United Nation to keep an eye on the current situation of Kashmir and draft out a permanent solution to this problem. Professor doctor Saqlain spoke on the occasion that the acting government should not commemorate this day as a tradition, but it should take this day to lay down their efforts in acheiving the goals for why this day has been commemorated, and that is to gain independence for the Kashmiris. He further said that the members of United Nation Security Council should be contacted to gain their favour in bringing a resolution to this dispute, and to make sure this resolution goes under the chapter 7 of United Nation instead of staying at Chapter 6.
Media Incharge Professor Waqar Hussain placed forth a dreadful possibility that the efforts in turning the heavenly land of kashmir into a warland, might ingnite the World War Three and destroy the global peace. He further said that the capabilities of Pakistani Armed forced is not hidden from anyone. In fact, in times like these , the whole Pakistani nation of 220 million people is an Army itself, and we stand side by side with our soldiers. It will be for everyone's betterment that we draft out a solution throught the resolution in United Nation, instead of using means that can destroy global peace. While moving towards the end of the seminar, Vice Principal Professor Sarfraz Hussain called out for a join prayer for the solidarity and peace of Pakistan and Kashmir.
Principal Syed Zia Ul Husnain Shah spoke on his presidential address that the current Modi govenment has murdered the views of Nehru, Gandhi and Wajpai in the resolution of United Nation, which has defamed the secular face of India to the global communities. The political parties of India are condemning the cruelity of Indian soldiers on Kashmiris. He said that a general election for public opionion should be called in Kashmir, and the actions of 5 August, including the revoke of Article 370 and Article 35 A should be taken back, and a suitable solution should be devised under the lights of resolutions of United Nation.
A Rally was called after the seminar in the name of protest. Professors and students wore black strips, some even wore black dresses, with play cards in their hands, the whole rally embraced the words of "Kashmir Will become Pakistan".

An Exemplary Road in Pakistan - Sargodha to Faislabad

An Exemplary Road in Pakistan- Sargodha To Faisalabad

  By Professor Waqar Hussain

If one gets an opportunity to travel on Sargodha-Faisalabad road, he will find a distinguished piece of road measuring in length about 3 kilometers near Sargodha. This portion of road is broad, smooth and exemplary hard.
During a road journey, one gets annoyed when vehicle proceeds slowly and feels irritated on its acceleration as the jumps and rattling of engine and body of auto-mobile become more and more pronounced.  So in both cases, the passengers are sandwiched between two agonies; they are so to say between the devil and the deep sea.
As soon as, this exemplary portion of road starts; all the clattering and tremoring are strangulated and transport vehicle gains speed without any mental or physical suffering. It seems as if it will take off in a jiffy and the travelers get a sigh of relief. Many thoughts flashing mind. One imagine if all the roads of the country become so smooth and plane, the traveling will be no more a fatigues task.
Furthermore, one question arises after all, what is the main difference which has made this road so unique and distinguished among the catalogue of roads? Suddenly, a reply comes from the heaven ‘it’s preparation is the outcome of quality material, toilsome labor and honesty of concerned agency. These three factors are sine qua non for par excellence of a road.
As far as quality of material is concerned, there is no scarcity of gravel in our country. The nature has bestowed us with number of mountain ranges.
On focusing the attention on availability of efficient and hardworking labor, it is stated that he roads are usually constructed during the summer seasons, the days are long and elevated thermometer level facilitate melting of coal tar. So the workers not only have to combat with scorching heat but also have to perform their work for a longer period of time.
In this reference, it is stated that there is legion Pakistani workers who are working in the Middle East and earned a respect by the dint of hard work and ability. One cannot doubt their tolerance of heat as the Middle East doesn’t fall in a cold zone. It indicated that our country is not handicap in the availability of competent tolerant workers.
But the real problem lies in the availability of honest, dedicated administrative machinery. Corruption has spread in our society like an epidemic. Almost everyone has fallen victim to this malady and so far no effective vaccination has been invented to combat this evil. Only Hercules is required to abolish such malicious practice. Fortunately, there are some sections of the government which are not fallen prey to this monster of corruption so far.
This band of road is constructed under the patronage of a government agency whose prime function is to safeguard the nation: both from external as well as internal threats. So some additional work may be entrusted to armed forced in the time of peace.  It is the only way to complete the trio requirement of heaven’s reply.
De facto, this portion of road is made for dual purpose: transportation and air craft landing. What may be the purpose, key point is its quality. If trio-factors are implemented, surely there will be a network of carpeted roads in the country.

Polythene Bags-The Frontier Post [Archive] By Waqar Hussain

October 30
Polythene Bags
Polythene bags Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in a meeting held on September 12 decided to impose ban on the production. sale and use of polythene bags. The use of polythene bags has already been prohibited in Karachi. Common people may not agree with imposition of ban considering the util-ity of polythene. Some of its minus points are given below. Polythene bag is composed of polyethylene which is a synthetic polymer. Ethylene, derived from petroleum. is made to react with itself under prescribed condi-tions to form polyethylene or polythene). Its composition contains a poisonous chemical which penetrates into material contained in the bag. thus making it toxic. Secondly. majority of the people use them lavishly and dispose them off blindly. It often blocks sanitary systems. Resultantly. drain water overflows on the roads which not only causes transport problems but also creates a smell. Thirdly. these bags also reduce fertility of soil as they form a thin non-permeable membrane between the adjacent layers of soil. So diffusion (i.e. the movement of materials from higher concentration to lower concentration) to maintain the uni-formity of sod is checked. Thus soil be-comes infertile. Most of the raw material in its manufac-turing is imported which is an additional burden on our economy. There is no proper method to get rid of them. Neither they can be crushed nor decomposed by microbial action. Furthermore. its burning pollutes the atmosphere with carbon dioxide (CO_) and residual material. There is no proper method of its rev:. cling . USA alone produces about 12 billion pounds of polythene annually. They have dev eloped a technoioa for its recycling. It is an appropriate step of the government to ban manufacturing. sale and use of poly-thene bag as the damage from its use has exceeded its rewards. Its ben will not create any substantial problem. Polythene bag can be replaced ivith bags of other materials like cloth. paper, esc. They are niudi cheaper and easily disposable.—WAQAR HUSSAIN, Lahore, October 30.

Prime minister's speech on 1-Day-The Frontier Post [Archive] By Waqar Hussain

                     Prime minister's speech on 1-Day
The 14th August is a red letter day in the history of Pakistan. On that day, 4M years ago, Pakistan emerged as a nation on the world map The independence day of Pakistan is celebrated with great zeal and zest. The day is marked with various events and ceremonies. The newspaper, magazine and Journals publish special supplements to commemorate the day The electronic media relay vanety of programmers to have a spree of Independence day. On the eve of the 14th August, special ceremony is conducted in Islamabad in which national flag is hoisted , nut al anthem is displayed, the Quran and the Na at is recited, the president or the premier delivers message to the nation and finally children sing national songs in chorus This year I was astonished to ICC the arrangement made on I he 14th August for the opening event as the number of scats were lying vacant indicating that invitees have not bothered to panic  lc in the prestigious national day's opening ceremony. Furthermore, the people who were present on the occasion were perspiratutg and pulsating. They were struggling to relieve themselves from berst. Reluctantly, they were paying little attention to the pro-. Thaw are minor proleterwe which can b rectified by adopting suitable measures i s the progrentine can be held under
at/Wit:4i place, proper fanning can also be helpful or time of ceremony can be fixed a bit earlier etc President is the head of state. fie should have presided the meeting instead of prime minister. "pm speech of PSI VW:if impressive and according to the occaston ab initio. She discussed the struggle movement and evoked the patriotic spirit of nation Suddenly she deviated Iron the right path and started disc-liming political differ-cotes, and mentioning the achievements made by her party in last decades. It seemed as if she was addressing to her party workers Instead of nation. This part of speech was objectionable as the programmed was telecast live to about No countries. During her speech she mentioned that their differences with Ayub Khan started on Tashkent Declaration in 1965. She should have known that Tashkent Declaration was signed in January 1966. It is an imponzint date in the history of Pakistan. One expect from prime minister to know such dates. Furthermore, she was experiencing great difficulty in speaking Urdu and was mispronouncing even common Urdu words and was committing fundamental grammatical mistakes. It looks awful when her party takes credit of formulating 1973 Constitution in which it is clearly stated that in 1988 Urdu will be completely imposed. On the other hand, the role of opposition was also disappointing. The opposition leader issued the statements which were not suit-able according to sanctity of the day. It awned as if both the nilingperty and the apposition eunen 'iodising the occasion for their own political cause. The 14th August is the Independence day of Pakistan. It is the day of national integration and revival of oath of commitment to the nation. This day should be celebrated in much more graceful manner. Opening ceremony can he arranged in 10:11 Pak Lahore under the canopy of Miner-i-pak-Ulan. It will bring fruitful result due to following reasons. Firstly, the Lahorities arc very enthusiastic. Secondly, a large number of people can he accommodated in lqbal Park. Thirdly, the place has great historical background. Fourthly, the surrounding of the , Park also depicts history of Muslim in sub-continent which was the main driving force behind the creation of Pakistan. Such ceremonies can be rotated to other cities of countries year after year. In sum, l4th August is the day of integration, not the day of difference. Our leaders should understand the gravity of Independence day please!

Renewal of driving license-The Frontier Post [Archive] By Waqar Hussain

(Friday, December 17, 1993)

A few days ago I visited Rabwah to meet a friend. He sought guidance from me about the renewal of his driving license. He acquired a driving license from Licensing Authority Sahiwal when he was staying there. Afterwards, he shifted to Rabwah. I proposed that we should go to the post office to seek guidance in this regard. He agreed with me and we went to the post office and met the postmaster who after listening to our problem advised us to submit an application along with photocopy of the said license He further added that this of-lice, after verification of the license from the postmaster of would renew the license, We were impressed by his courteous behavior and cooperation. After two days we again visited the post office to submit the application in accordance with instruction of postmaster. But we were astonished to find a new person sitting on the chair of postmaster. Anyhow we submitted the application to him and also in-formed him about the discussion held with the previous postmaster. He refused to take the application and said that the license could not he renewed from this office in any (ace. I told him what his predecessor had said. in reply lie said: "Every post-master has kis own methods"
While we are coming out of the post office, on9- of the officials came to us and said 'This license can be renewed here if you are ready to co-operate with us.' "What type of co-operation?" I inquired. He winked and touched the index finger with his thumb; it revealed the meaning of 'co-operation' to us. I request the postmaster general on behalf of victimized public of Rabwah to conduct an inquiry and to redress their problems and post a full-fledged, honest postmaster at Rabwah.

Neelam Ghar-The Frontier Post [Archive] By Waqar Hussain

Neelam Ghar is the oldest PTV show pivoting around Tariq Aziz's competing art and dynamic personality. It entertains the masses by presenting interviews of important personalities, music and songs, exhibition of skill, funny contests among audience, comical events, quiz and distribution of prizes. With the passage of time it has lost its previous status due to uniformity antiquated events and lack of innovation. But still a vast majority of people watches this program for the sake of attaining knowledge. Alas! it is a matter of great distress that Neelam Ghar is now losing its last saving grace: education. Here are quoted some mistakes picked from the last couple of programmers. A few months ago, during a program Tariq Aziz annexed 'Rehmat Ullah Al-lath' instead of 'Razi Allah-o-Unho' to the name of a Companion of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In the 19th February show, Tariq Aziz mispronounced the name of American scientist F.B. Samuel Morse, inventor of the Morse Code, as "Marris". In 26th February 1993 program Mr. Nawaz Shard was stated to be the 11th Prime Minister of Pakistan. He is in fact the 14th PM of Pakistan; list is stated below: Khan Liaquat All Khan. Khawaja Nazimuddin. Moham-mad All Bogra, Chaudhry Mo-hammad Ali. Hussain Shaheed Snhrawardi, Ibrahim Ismail (I It Chundrigai T Malik Feroz Khan Noon, General Mohammad Ayub Khan. Noorul Amin (nominated), Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Mohammad Khan Junejo, Ms. Benazir Bhutto. Ghulam Mustafa Jatot (caretaker), and Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shatir. Furthermore, one thing is very astonishing as there is no item of auction (neelam) in this show why it is called 'Neelam Ghar? This program needs more attention, dedication and innovation to keep the interest of the viewers alive.
