PPLA  CALL OFF SIT-IN; ON AGREEMENT WITH GOVT

      Punjab Professor and Lecturer Association had been observing sit- in at Charing Cross Lahore since 26 March to get endorsement of government for their "Trioka demands" .On observing cold response of concerned authorities ,PPLA announced boycott of classes after 10am on daily basis from yesterday I.e.31st March .Feeling the gravity of situation education Minister Raja Yasar Humyun Sarfaraz started dialogue with PPLA and came up with an agreement last night .Government pledge to announce training program of deserved professors within 4 months  . Second, government fully agreed with pay protection to be granted to batches of 2002 ;2005 ;2009 and 2012 .Government agreed to revise service structures by replacing four tier formula with five tier formula like KPK gradually.On acceptance of demands PPLA called off Sit-in and boycott of classes. Professors from all over the Punjab had a sigh of relief and became jubilant on government assurance .They distributed sweets and exchanged greetings of success and applauded government for it's education friendly posture.

پنجاب پروفیسر اور لیکچر ایسوسی ایشن پیپلا  26 مارچ سے لاہور چیئرنگ کراس پر اپنے تین بنیادی مطالبات کی
منظوری کے لۓ دھرنا دے کر بیٹھے تھے اور کوئی حکومتی نمائندہ ان کے پاس نہ آیا -اس بے حسی کو دیکھ کر پیپلا نے اپنا احتجاج دوسرے مرحلے میں داخل کردیا اور کل 31 مارچ سے صبح دس بجے کے بعد کلاسز کے بائیکاٹ کی کال دی۔ جس پر صوبہ بھر میں تدریسی کام 10 بجے کے بعد تقریبا بند ہوگیا -اس نازک صورتحال کو حکومت نے بھانپ لیا اور پیپلاکی قیادت سے وزیر تعلیم راجہ یاسر ہمایوں سرفراز نے مذاکرات شروع کیے، جو کل رات دیر گئے ختم ہوئے -وزیر تعلیم اور پیپلا  کے درمیان ایک معاہدہ طے پایا جس میں پیپلا کے تینوں مطالبات کو منظور کر لیا گیا- پہلا مطالبہ کے جواب میں حکومت نے چار ماہ کے اندر اندر ٹریننگ کے پروگرام کا نوٹیفکیشن جاری کرنے کا وعدہ کیا -اس طرح پروفیسرز کی تین سال سے رکُی ہوی  پرموشن کا عمل دوبارہ جاری ہوجائے گا۔ دوسرے مطالبے کے ضمن میں کنٹریکٹ پروفیسروں کے بیچ 2002 ؛2005 2009 اور 2012 کی تنخواہ کے تحفظ کو یقینی بنانے پر اتفاق کیا گیا۔ تیسرے مطالبے کے جواب میں چار درجاتی فارمولے کی جگہ پر آہستہ آہستہ کے پی کے(KPK ) کی  طرز پر پانچ درجاتی فارمولے کو بتدریج نافذ کرنے کا وعدہ کیا۔
مطالبات کی منظوری پر پپلا نے اپنا دھرنا اور بائیکاٹ کی کال واپس لے لی- پروفیسر میں خوشی کی لہر دوڑ گئی اور وہ ایک دوسرے کو مبارکبادیں دینے لگے اور ہر جگہ مٹھائیاں تقسیم ہونے لگی ۔دوسری طرف چند پروفیسرز کا کہنا ہے کہ حکومت نے لالی پاپ دیا ہے کیوں کے مطالبات کی منظوری کا کوئی نوٹی فکیشن جاری نہیں کیا گیا جبکہ پیپلاں کی قیادت اور اکثر پروفیسروں کو یقین ہے کہ حکومت اپنے وعدے کی پاسداری کرے گی اور استاد کو عزت دے گی

PPLA protest enters second phase; boycott of classes all over the Punjab

            PPLA Punjab Professor and lecturer Association has been holding sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly at the Charring Cross Lahore since 26 March ; Thousands of professors from all over the Punjab gathered there to protest for their trio-demand in peaceful manner.

      Professors are demanding troika demands; their  first demand is pay protection of contract professors batches of 2000, 2005, 2009, and 2012 . They are demanding that their salary count should start from the day, they joined higher education department.

     Second demand is that their promotion had been stopped with a condition of “pre promotion training” for the last 3 years. Government is neither conducting training nor promoting them. As a result, thousands of matured promotion cases are laying pending. They are asking for moving of promotion of process. They are ready to undergo training but govt lack necessary facilities for training. They demands if conduction of training is not possible at the moment, deserved professor should be given promotion as it was done on earlier times.

Third demand , Professors want implementation of KPK 5-tier formula i.e. 0.6% for grade 21; 22% for grade 19; 35% for grade 18; and 36% for grade 17.

     After 7 days of peaceful sit-in, government has turned a deaf ears to their demand so they entered into 2nd phase of their protest by announcing boycott of classes after 10 am onward on daily basis.

   In line with PPLA central executive decision; professors of TI college Chenab Nagar boycotted the classes after 10 am and had a walk inside and outside college. And raised slogans high to be heard in the higher echelon of power and get rectified. People of the area showed great concern of the prevailing scenario when they saw“ builders of nation” begging for their own“build up” of service structure and demanded that mentors of nation should be given high stature both in economic and social domain.

Tipu Sultan Day Celebrated at Govt T I College      

         Tipu sultan day was celebrated at Govt. Postgraduate College Chenab Nagar the other day; to mark the martyrdom of a great soldier on 4 May 1799, known as lion of Mysor, who preferred honorable death over humiliated living. Various speakers adorned the day especially Prof Ali Imran Shah was jewel of the day as he delivered a key note speech to highlight the role of Hazarat Tipu Sultan. He said "Tipu Sultan was a true soldier of Islam and freedom loving stardom. He abhorred cunning politics of the British Ruler and was determined to exterminate the British out of the peninsula. Unfortunately Nizam of Deccan and Maratha did not side with him. So, he decided to combat on his own meager resources. He organized his army on modern footings and put up valiant fight to uproot foreign rulers. He also mobilized foreign powers like Afghanistan, France, and Egypt to get rid of British rulers. He did all what he could do, but Mir Jaffer’s treachery put barricade on wake of his ambitions. He lost his life but was able to set an example and engraved his name on the pages of history. He proved that valiant never dies but disappears. He became a role model for the later generation who ultimately uprooted castles of British imperialism and were able to see the dawn of freedom.
