HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY IN AN EASY WAY

PROF WAQAR HUSSAIN

         Essay writing is obligatory at Intermediate , graduate level, PCS,CSS, and in many examinations conducted by PPSC,FPSC, and most candidates feel it a cumbersome task. But in reality, it is one of the easiest task( the word “essay” has word “easy” in it !) if approached in an appropriate manner i.e. following proper technique and practice.There are many handy tips but the key tip is practice;keep in mind every excellence has roots in practice.

Technique No 1;

 Choose a very common topic on which you have sufficient information like hen, table, school. Topic should be as simple as it appear a joke but it will never be a joke as Chinese says that thousands miles journey starts from a tiny stride.The underlying science in writing on simple topic is that you don't perplex in vortex of getting information as an essay is nothing but a literary  piece of writing written on a definite pattern.so essay has main  two things ; literary style and definite pattern, at third level comes information.so when you will write on simple topic; problem of information is solved and yours concentration will automatically fix on pattern and literary style.If one writes simple correct English then only things remain is pattern.So, first divide your essay in three basic unit i.e. introduction, body and conclusion and then split the body into different headings.This sorting is called outline.Now make an outline of HEN REARING;

Introduction (all knows general introduction of hen )

Types of hen:
           Broiler
           Layer
           Golden Misri
           Dessi
           Wild

Advantages:

           Meat
           Eggs
           Entertainment
           Protection
           Utilization of waist food of homes
           Morning alarm
           Economic benefit
           Islamic injunction ( it is ordained to the rich to rear goats and to the poor to rear hen to get economic well-being)

Disadvantages:

           Dirt
           Foul odour
           Noise
           Pecking in food
           Bird flue
           Care
           Maintaining,cleaning and repairing of cage

Conclusion:  every thing has some uses and abuses; but uses overweight its petty abuses as use of meat and eggs have become part and parcel of today life…….
On next day, pick a new simple topic ; make an outline and then write an essay, and have frequent checking of essay from an English teacher.

Technique No 2:

       Take an argumentative essay(drug abuse, corruption,inflation,etc.) and make outline as;

       Conclusion

Technique No 3:

        If you are to write an essay on any personality ; give detail in chronological order; birth, childhood, early education, professional life, achievements, and last phase of his life till death

Technique No 4:

        If you are going to write on any account of journey( visit to a hill station, college tour,etc.) write it from the place of start and describe events by place on by one..

Technique No 5:

        Another method of pattern is to write introduction then look around the problem in your area and its effects; then see the problem in other countries, then describe what was the condition of that problem in history and finally give pragmatic suggestion,(i.e. future,) to solve the problem and finally sum up your essay in conclusion.

Technique No 6:

         Memorize an essay on famous personality(e.g. Quaid- I- Azam; Allama Iqbal,etc ) ….now you have many ways to mould this essay for many topics. For “My favourite book” write above essay by changing that; my favourite book is the book I read on the life history of the Quaid- e- Azam; For My Favourite TV program; write that your favourite TV program was documentary telecast on the birth anniversary of Quaid- i- Azam; For My Hero in life, you can again write the same essay, even for some far away topic like My Favorite Hobby; you can mould above essay by saying my favorite hobby is book reading and recently I have read book on the Quaid- i- Azam;so you can mold your one essay in various modes.

Technique No 7:

          Memorize below essay which is written in generalized manner and write this essay for topics given below; it will impart kill of writing, skill of molding essay, skill of making an outline. When you will write it for various topics, you will get into habit of writing essay to an extent that you will be able to write any unseen essay with effortless ease.

Note; Key point is practice;famous columnist Javaid Chaudhry wrote column for 5  consecutive years then stepped into the arena of journalism and became one of leading and unique columnist in a jiffy and proved  JULIUS CAESAR’s words Veni, vidi, vici “ I came, I saw and I conquered” true for him…research says that if someone practice in any field for 10,000 hours; he will become unique in that art.In this survey, researchers analyzed famous persons of many field in the 10000 years history and gave humanity the simple “formula of myriad”…for essay writing you just need to write 20 to 30 essay for this level of your studies and this task will take just 20 to 30 hours i.e. almost a day or so. But don’t do it in a day rather practice for an hour a day and extend up to a month.you are sure to get success; tell this formula to other as beneficent people are being liked and are blessed.
