Visit to WildLife Park Murree [By Nisar Hussain]
MURREE WILDLIFE PARK
Anyone that happens to get
the chance to visit the hills of Murree, would not want to slip stepping into
some charming sights. Among those wonderful breath taking sights, a WildLife
Park located near Murree, on Bansra Gali, holds a competitive status over other
such sites. However, on a factual point, that shall not be disregarded when we
talk about the Murree WildLife park is the under numbered variety of animals it
cages. It would be a violation to the definition of Zoo if we call it so, because it has a small variety of animals,
which has even got more lessened in the past few years, with reasons that has
remained uncertain as yet.
To my
wonderful fortunes, I have visited this park twice in current year, despite
knowing the under variety of animals, it yet never fails to amuse me with its
adventurous features. I have to love how this park unintentionally resembles with
the fictional park shown in Jurassic
Park movie. But instead of having the T-Rex
or Velociraptor, this park has Siberian brown tiger and some other
wild animals which are not easily available to be seen openly, like Yak, Red Deer, 3 different types of pheasants,
etc. However, my this visit was not only adventurous, but was also aided with
thrills and laughter, especially when we came to wonder “why is there a donkey behind the
cage”. Of course it wasn’t put there on purpose, perhaps it must’ve
sneaked into the cage somehow, unknowingly, but it was odd enough for us to giggle.
SIBERIAN BROWN TIGER
Now,
starting with the most prominent animal of this park, Siberian brown tiger, as
the name itself dictates its origin to be from Siberia, a place in Russia,
which clearly means that this animal is adapted to live in cold, and shall not
possibly tolerate a high temperature. Hence, you can find air conditioner
installed in the cage for this animal. Although it does not roar or make any
loud sound, but its comparatively huge and heavy body is enough to fear anyone
nearby it. Despite being trapped behind metal cage, it still made the tourists to
scream as it rushed toward the cage. So far, it is the only Siberian tiger
present in the wildlife park of Murree.
SAMBAR DEER
SAMBAR DEER
Further, it
comes the Sambar Deer, which locally goes by the characteristic name of “Bara
Singah”. “Bara” means twelve and “singah” means horns. As clearly
visible in the image, it have 12 horns instead of two, which is not normally observed in most mammals.
YALK
Followed
to this mammal it comes the Yak,
which can be called a wild black cow, with a fairly good anger.
PHEASANTS
In the
family of birds, we have 3 types of pheasants, namely Silver Pheasant, Golden pheasant, and Green pheasant. What I find
so attractive about the pheasant is the fact that their natural feathers are
arranged in such a manner so as to give a look of a professional haircut, like
the one that celebrities of our time are mostly seen with.
PEAFOWL / PEACOCK
Anyways, moving
forth to another type of bird is the well-known common peafowl or peacock,
which has their own big bird cage near the children amusement park, inside the
wildlife park.
Related
articles about Murree wildlife park has added some other names of animals to
their lists which are not present in the park anymore, or perhaps has never
been there, like Asian black Bear, Bacterian camel, Chital, etc.
Apart from
animal exhibition in the wildlife park of Murree, what makes it even more enchanting
for tourists is the fresh, wild, and adventurous environment. Just as we enter
the park, huge lush green trees, stretched to the very top, welcomes us with
utter zeal and zest. It’s upon the visitor to choose whether to reach the park
through cable car, or by road. I personally have experienced both ways, so I
can conclude that going through cable car is more adventurous, but also more
restless causing struggle to walk around a kilometer on a small path around the
mountain. This is not an ideal choice for aged people, but for youngsters, it’s
possibly the best option, especially those who want to create a memorable
journey.
Whoever gets
the chance to go anywhere near the WildLife Park of Murree, shall not miss the
chance to visit it. Surprisingly it offers free visit to tourists, you can even
enjoy having a picnic there with your friends and family, and hopefully you
spend a memorable time there.
