When
the shade of earth falls on moon, it is called lunar eclipse. Or one can say when
earth comes between sun and moon and moon cannot get sun rays due to presence
of earth. Lunar eclipse occurs at full moon. When the light from the sun is
completely blocked by the earth in case of full lunar eclipse.Consequently, only larger wavelengths i.e.. orange and red wavelength reaches the surface of moon
making it orange or red. While smaller wavelength violet, indigo, blue, green,
yellow are blocked by the earth and its atmosphere.
