Why bride wear red dress on weddings in some countries?

 Brides wear red dress on marriage in many countries especially in Asia like China, India, etc. Red means good luck in China and India. It also conveys the idea of purity. In India red is often used to symbolize joy and pleasure. It denotes strength, wealth, prosperity and delight. Probably that is why, Diwali cards are written in red and gift money is given in red envelope. Red is the colour of life (colour of blood). Red colour indicates virginity, purity and piety. Red is energizing. It excites the emotions, passions and motivates us to take action.

           On wearing red dress, red light is emitted which makes the face pinkish, enhances complexion and thus glorify the beauty. Brides look gorgeous in red dress. Psychologists advise persons who get unduly nervous to wear red clothes. In Asian countries; marriage of a girl means a phase of drastic changes. She departs from her ancestral home, leaves behind all her loved ones and shifts to an entirely different milieu. At this juncture, she often gets nervous so by following psychologists counsel of red dress; she can control her nervousness and anxiety. It gives confidence to those who are shy or lack will power. Red colour also conceals certain secrets which are considered erroneous to be discussed or commented upon in Asian societies. Another reason of wearing red dress is that it is easy to recognize the bride among the crowd of women. Although times are changing and many brides are now wearing dresses of other colours.
